"On the Incarnation"

The incarnation is the historic Christian doctrine that Jesus of Nazareth is the eternal Second Person of the Trinity, that he has in time taken upon himself a complete human nature by being born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. This months recommendation is “On the Incarnation” by Athanasisus of Alexandria.

As we gather this time of year to celebrate Christmas we are reminded that the Eternal Son, the second person of the Trinity took on flesh in order to fulfill all righteousness in Himself, and would ultimately give His life on the cross for the sins of His people.

Back in the 4th Century, a hero of the faith (a major force for orthodoxy during the Council of Nicaea) by the name of Athanasius would write this short work on the awe inspiring event of the Incarnation. I invite you to take the time this year to read this work as we marvel at the work of God.
